Volunteer Roles

Book Wrangler (Kelowna) – Collect and sort gently used book donations.

Design & Creative Content Team – Create & edit content for Niteo’s website, social platforms, and literacy resources.

Reading Mentor (Kelowna and Vernon) – Support newcomer families in our Story As
Community Family Reading Program (parents & children attend together!) to develop their reading and English language conversation skills! Sessions run every Fall and winter for 6-8 weeks.

Writing Mentor (Kelowna) – Support newcomer youth in our Youth Voices creative writing program to find their voice, discover and celebrate their unique story, and to develop their writing skills! Sessions run every Fall and winter for 6-8 weeks.

Literacy Curriculum & Training Team – Develop literacy resources in collaboration with our Canadian & Ugandan teams.

Discovery Team Volunteer – Travel with NITEO to Uganda to learn about our work on the ground by meeting NITEO’s partners and visiting school and community libraries. Travel will be co-designed to be a meaningful exchange of learning between Ugandan leaders and NITEO volunteers.
